We founded one of the first licensed hypnotism schools in 1978. Drawing many students each semester from throughout the United States and the world, we have become a world leading hypnotherapy school. The ongoing, expanding success of our classes occurs because we are continually improving a well-organized, selectively eclectic, highly experiential program, taught by very skilled, creative, experienced instructors who care deeply about our students.

Including powerful live demonstrations, practice and group processes in an intimate, supportive setting, we teach safe and effective ways to do many forms of hypnotherapy in our highly practical courses. The integration of many modalities including Gestalt is also covered. Your skills are further developed by homework assignments which include selected texts (including award-winning cutting-edge texts designed for our program), many important class handouts, and further practice. These fascinating courses are carefully designed to give you extensive training to either practice hypnosis as a career or integrate these skills with another profession in the health or counseling fields.
The supervised practice sessions are as vital to our program as the lectures and demonstrations. All participants practice hypnotic techniques with each other, beginning the first day of class. We encourage each student to develop his or her own creative styles of induction and therapy and to explore many facets of giving and experiencing hypnotherapy.
We do our utmost to create a safe environment for powerful growth opportunities within the context of a well-organized training. On the way to becoming Certified Hypnotherapists, many of our students have reported dramatic improvements in their lives.
Although we created one of the first licensed schools of hypnotherapy in the world, we have never rested on our laurels. Every new season we update and develop our dynamic program. We evolve along with our discoveries and insights and those of others in the field. We listen to our students, and continue to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our teaching methods.
One example of our unique teaching efficiency is in the structure of our accelerated programs, which meet full time, 5 days a week. Instead of teaching 5 days in a row, then taking 2 days off each week, we never teach more than 3 days in a row. That's because there is such a wealth of material we cover each day that it's best by then to have a day outside of class to assimilate, relax, and do several hours of homework. Homework includes study of books, notes and handouts, self-hypnosis explorations, and further practice sessions beyond the supervised practice in class. We couldn't possibly cover as much or teach as effectively if we met the traditional 5 straight days. This is just one example of how we are able to cover an amazing amount of material in each level of class.
Our commitment to teaching an eclectic array of methods is grounded in HTI instructors' many years of successful experience using many forms of hypnotherapy. We focus on the most important issues and modalities in substantial depth. We emphasize comprehensive solutions to achieve lasting change, working interactively with the whole person, clearing underlying causes of unwanted attitudes, emotions and behavior. And we teach how to learn hypnotism modalities to tap into many forms of wisdom and healing capabilities of the subconscious mind. A combination of appropriate hypnotherapy methods over a series of sessions will usually yield the most profound, lasting results for your clients. |

Level Three Course
This is an advanced course with a strong emphasis on live therapy demonstrations. We explore a wide range of regression strategies, both detached and potentially cathartic, integrating various modalities when appropriate, including protective ideomotor methods, the affect bridge, Gestalt, transactional analysis, inner child work, and hypnoanalysis. Our expertise is shared in working with recovered memories and avoiding false memories.
We go into further depth with therapy for addictions, and explore Hypnotic Dreamwork™, advanced ideomotor methods, psychosynthesis, crossroads therapy, and aspects of Boyne's Transforming Therapy™. As with the other levels, the subject matter is carefully augmented by supervised practice.
Aspects of developing a practice covered in this level include disclosures, insurance coverage, insurance reimbursement, business licenses, trademarks, and further legal issues.
Developing from the foundation set in Levels One and Two, Level Three graduates receive a state-approved Master Hypnotist diploma. In addition, this is an advanced course that qualifies for upgrading of Certification, and is a popular course of established Hypnotherapists.
Level Four Course
Like Level Three, this course emphasizes powerful live demonstrations, including comprehensive regression strategies. Advanced ideomotor uncovering techniques include Churchill's Imprint Method for transforming subconscious beliefs. The course includes advanced hypno-healing methods, parts therapy, Mulder's sandbox process, the Cartography of Human Consciousness and experiential holotropic breathing sessions.
Various practice sessions will further ground and inspire you with your wealth of options as a hypnotherapist. Creative business and marketing strategies are explored in depth.
Level Four graduates receive a state-approved diploma in Advanced Hypnotherapy. Completion of Levels One through Four also satisfies A.C.H.E. requirements for Hypnotherapist Certification.

The $750 deposit for accelerated programs, or $300 deposit for a weekend level of class, is credited toward class tuition and is due at least one month prior to the initial class meeting. Since class size is limited, earlier registration is strongly recommended to insure your place.
Aside from a registration fee ($250 for an accelerated program; $150 for a weekend level), deposits are fully refundable until one month before the class begins. Upon withdrawal less than one month before class, another $250 (or the balance of the deposit for a weekend level) is retained but can be credited toward a future class. The balance is due upon the first day of class. Please print and use the sign-up page if you are mailing your deposit. Some students may find financial assistance through third party payers. These include grants, vocational rehabilitation, workers compensation or governmental One Stop Career Centers. In addition, sometimes employers will pay for either skill enhancement or required CEUs.
Additional experiential and reading homework for each course is given for days between class meetings, and at the conclusion of the program. We provide some of the texts at discounts, and the cost of texts averages $35 per level. They may be purchased from the Institute in class.
Our programs are in the San Francisco North Bay area, ten minutes drive from the Golden Gate Bridge and with good access by bus from the airport and other Bay Area locations. Our accelerated courses can be essentially residential when students stay at the Corte Madera Inn, and many people stay within walkng distance as well. We have information about accommodations and local transportation available.
Diplomas approved by the State of California, with the embossed seals of our state-licensed school, are awarded upon completion of the Level Three and Level Four courses.
In addition to HTI's certification, upon completion of the Level Four course, the student qualifies to receive further Certification as a Hypnotherapist by the primary certifying organization in the United States with over 9500 members, the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. A.C.H.E. Certification is $175 for two years, including the one-time cost of initial application processing.

A Master Hypnotherapist diploma is awarded at the conclusion of Level Five, and an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy Certificate of Achievement is awarded for Level Six, each with the embossed HTI seal. Upon completion of six levels of class, the student is eligible to become Certified by the A.C.H.E. as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.

Courses for Hypnotherapists
We offer various options for continuing education for hypnotherapists. Many graduates of other hypnotherapy programs have chosen our Level One or Two course as the ideal place to start, even if they have at least 150 classroom hours of previous training and substantial hypnotherapy experience. There is much advanced material to learn in each of those courses. Level Three is a popular advanced class and prerequisite for Level Four. Please call or e-mail if you have questions.
Each level of class is A.C.H.E. approved for credit to upgrade your certification from "Master Hypnotist" to "Hypnotherapist," or from "Hypnotherapist" to "Clinical Hypnotherapist." Also, the courses are approved for CEU's for biennial renewal of your Certification.
We periodically offer special advanced classes, which are also approved by the A.C.H.E. and other agencies for Continuing Education Credit, including our Hypnotic Dreamwork"™ and Holotropic Breathing seminars. Further Advanced Courses for our Graduates
